Psalm 139 “The LORD Is Always Near” For Sept 18, 2009
(Contemporary English Version) (A psalm by David for the music leader.)
1You have looked deep into my heart, LORD, and you know all about me.
2You know when I am resting or when I am working,
and from heaven you discover my thoughts.
3You notice everything I do and everywhere I go.
4Before I even speak a word, you know what I will say,
5and with your powerful arm you protect me from every side.
6I can't understand all of this!
Such wonderful knowledge is far above me.
7Where could I go to escape from your Spirit or from your sight?
8If I were to climb up to the highest heavens, you would be there.
If I were to dig down to the world of the dead, you would also be there.
9Suppose I had wings like the dawning day and flew across the ocean.
10Even then your powerful arm would guide and protect me.
11Or suppose I said, "I'll hide in the dark until night comes to cover me over."
12But you see in the dark because daylight and dark are all the same to you.
13You are the one who put me together inside my mother's body,
14and I praise you because of the wonderful way you created me.
Everything you do is marvelous! Of this I have no doubt.
15Nothing about me is hidden from you!
I was secretly woven together deep in the earth below,
16but with your own eyes you saw my body being formed.
Even before I was born, you had written in your book everything I would do.
17Your thoughts are far beyond my understanding,
much more than I could ever imagine.
18I try to count your thoughts,
but they outnumber the grains of sand on the beach.
And when I awake, I will find you nearby.
19How I wish that you would kill all cruel and heartless people
and protect me from them!
20They are always rebelling and speaking evil of you. [a]
21You know I hate anyone who hates you, LORD,
and refuses to obey.
22They are my enemies too, and I truly hate them.
23Look deep into my heart, God, and find out everything
I am thinking.
24Don't let me follow evil ways, but lead me in the way
that time has proven true.

2 我 坐 下 ， 我 起 來 ， 你 都 曉 得 ； 你 從 遠 處 知 道 我 的 意 念 。
3 我 行 路 ， 我 躺 臥 ， 你 都 細 察 ； 你 也 深 知 我 一 切 所 行 的 。
4 耶 和 華 啊 ， 我 舌 頭 上 的 話 ， 你 沒 有 一 句 不 知 道 的 。
5 你 在 我 前 後 環 繞 我 ， 按 手 在 我 身 上 。

Dear students,
On Friday Sept 25, we could have an outside class by attending an evening session of an English conference in Taipei.
The following is the conference info. The speakers speak English , with Chinese interpretation, so you'll get both English and Chinese. Both speakers are Canadian. I've attended a few of their conferences. They are terrific speakers. The English they use is simple.
If you're interested in getting a cultural and language experience, we can go as a class on Fri Sept 25, from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m., the same time and date as the class time (The evening session ends at 10 p.m. You can leave at 9:30 or 9:40 p.m. if you want).
Cultural experience: To communicate with and understand North Americans, Europeans, and people from other English-speaking countries, it is very helpful to understand a little of the Christian faith, because a lot of their culture and mentality has a Christian foundation. The United States, for example, is founded on the Bible.
Remember language and culture always go hand-in-hand. To learn the English language, you'll need to learn the culture of the English-speaking countries. Even if you are not a Christian, this conference can help you understand the Christian world view, and the reasons for the vitality, abundant life, faith, hope, and love of Christian people.

Free admissions for all four evenings. You can attend all four evening sessions if you wish. You'll find them beneficial.
What time and Where to meet: Between 7:00 and 7:15 p.m., on the 3rd floor, right outside the sanctuary (where the conference is held) of the church. We can go in and sit together as a group.
For those of you who are not registered this term, feel free to join us on Fri Sept 25, or go on your own if it's more convenient.
(Day-time sessions require registration with a fee. I've signed up for the whole conference.)
We'll have to decide in class if we are going this coming Fri (Sept 18), because we need to report to the school that we'll have the outside class.
