全球仍在航行最古老的客輪、海上書城忠僕號4月3日抵達高雄、5月1日起泊靠花蓮港，1977年後隸屬德國非營利組織好書共享協會（GBA），船上有六千多種圖書，15至28日將泊靠基隆港，北部聽眾請別錯過！
５月１日至１２日，海上書城忠僕號（M.V. Doulos）第三度造訪花蓮。１９１４年迄今、船齡已經９５歲、預計在２０１０年除役，可能是忠僕號最後一次造訪花蓮，這是值得花蓮人珍惜的機會；而書與閱讀、又是教育電台的符號印記，因此教育電臺與花蓮縣政府教育處合作推出「縱橫書海、愛上忠僕號」系列活動，要讓花蓮人愛上忠僕號，更要讓花蓮人喜歡一再登上忠僕號，親近書、親近海洋。
花蓮縣政府教育處處長溫智雄肯定忠僕號為花蓮帶來的意義、恰巧與教育處推動的英語學習、品格教育及推廣閱讀的目標不謀而合。曾經是國中英語教師與記者、溫智雄處長回憶當時登上忠僕號的經歷，依舊令他感動且印象深刻。
除了４月１０日起至５月１５日，每週五推出系列節目，創造在地民眾與國際志工對話的平台，聽到走遍全球，因為書、而改變人生的見證以外，本分臺還推出邀請教師設計學習單的教師工作坊。２２日下午臨時推出的教師工作坊，完成７份精采的學習單，加掛在忠僕號中文網頁上http://www.doulos.to/，提供準備上船參觀的家長、學生與免費下載、以免走馬看花，錯失最後一次與忠僕號邂逅的機會。

簡介 忠僕號 - 維基百科，自由的百科全書
忠僕號於1914年8月22日下水，那時候她稱為「麥地那」（Medina）：一艘蒸氣貨輪，她的處女航是從紐約載洋蔥到德州的加爾維斯頓，是第一次世界大戰期間是美國補給船。
1950年，她又重新命名為「羅馬號」（Roma），改裝為客輪，船艙可住287船員和694乘客，用來搭載移民從義大利到澳洲。
1952年，又再一次更名為「佛倫卡Ｃ」，並於1959年整修由蒸氣引擎改為柴油引擎，成為豪華觀光郵輪，航行於南美洲和地中海沿岸，船上有畫廊、賭場、餐廳、泳池和戲院，可讓345名乘客入住。
最後在1977年，這艘郵輪在送去廢鐵場半途存活下來，並由德國非營利慈善機構「好書共享」（Gute Bücher für Alle）慈善事業購買。經過整修過程，最後這艘船成為現在的「忠僕號」，泳池和賭場改裝為會議室和書室，。並於1993年在南非開普敦進行大修，更換船上的電力系統及70公里長的電線，此大修工程由世界各地的志工到南非進行。1998年再進行大修更換部份老舊設備。
忠僕號現為國際性差會「世界福音動員會」（Operation Mobilisation International）的事工之一，船員是來自超過50個不同的國家共320名的義工。三大使命為：為民眾傳送知識（Knowledge）、提供援助（Help）及帶來希望（Hope）。[1][2]

Joining the English Class

I'm interested in English. Thus I came to the Daan Community University to audit the Intermediate English Conversation class at the end of last semester. When I walked into the classroom and spoke Chinese to the teacher and the students, it was interesting for me to hear them answer me in English. Then I realized that their class rule is "English only. No Chinese!"
At that time they were rehearsing for the presentation put out at the end of every semester. The skit was composed by all the students. I couldn't help but clap my hands for their lively performance. And I was so glad that I was the first audience that got to see the show.
The new semester started. I became one of the new members of the class. Our teacher Jennifer encouraged us: "Express your ideas at your own English level regardless of other students' skills levels." Therefore, we felt at ease and had a great time in the class. As we shared our experiences and thoughts with one another, we also acquired more English conversation skills.
Not long ago I watched the news about the energy drink being laced with cyanide by Chain, Mien-Ren. A question came to my mind: How do I say Chain, Mien-Ren in English? So I checked the ICRT web site. It was too bad that I didn’t find the answer, because they just used the word "suspect" instead. Meanwhile I was attracted by the other English news. They were very interesting. Now I try to read the English news on the web site everyday if I have any spare time. If I can't get the point of the news, I'll copy it then ask my teacher. She always uses
a simple way to answer my questions. I learnt a great deal from her.
Learning English is a journey. I believe I’ll walk all the way with joy and diligence.
